The Story of Tanzi Stretto: Redefining Handcrafted Bangles in Bangladesh
In 2020, the handmade bangle market in Bangladesh barely existed. Six years later, it has evolved into a vibrant, full industry. This is the story of how Tanzi Stretto helped open the doors to this movement, navigated the peak of the market boom, and why we have chosen to step away from chasing passing trends to focus entirely on building a meaningful, lasting brand.

In 2020, the landscape of handmade bangles in Bangladesh was a quiet one. A few pioneering pages were around, and we will always be grateful to them for opening the door to this niche. However, the specific premium, meticulously crafted, and consistently branded aesthetic we were deeply drawn to wasn't truly being explored yet. We felt a quiet calling to create something of our own: handcrafted bangles made with uncompromising care, presented not just as products, but as a proper brand with a distinct identity.
So, we took a leap of faith. We started small, with minimal investment and no formal playbook, learning the art of slow fashion as we went. We crafted a few pieces, took some photographs, and shared them on Facebook, unsure of where the journey would lead.
What happened next genuinely humbled us. Within weeks, our inbox began to fill with daily orders, all arriving without a single drop of ad spend or a complex marketing strategy. We were incredibly fortunate to have our artistry find the right people at the exact right time.
The Evolution of Shapes and the Craft
As the years passed, this handmade bangle industry began to mature and evolve beautifully. In the beginning, the variety of bangle shapes and sizes was incredibly limited. As the market matured, the complexity of our categories expanded significantly.
In fact, Tanzi Stretto was the first to introduce several unique bangle shapes to the Bangladeshi market. Among them, our iconic Kakon shape stands out. When we first introduced and named the Kakon design, it resonated so deeply with our muses that the entire industry eventually adopted the name, and it is now universally recognized by that title.
Today, we proudly work with nine distinct shapes, each carrying its own unique aesthetic. However, working with such diverse artistry introduces high technical complexity. Each shape demands its own distinct size and diameter. Even for the same standard wrist size, a change in the bangle's shape alters the inner diameter measurement completely. This variance has historically caused sizing issues for many customers, occasionally resulting in product returns.
Announcing an Industry-First Solution
Driven by a desire to fix this challenge, we have spent months working on a groundbreaking solution. Tanzi Stretto is officially preparing to launch a complete, highly comprehensive size chart tailored to all nine of our signature shapes.
This chart was born out of our own internal needs, but we intentionally built it to serve the broader handcrafted jewelry industry in Bangladesh. Even though Tanzi Stretto took the sole initiative, invested the effort, and mapped out this blueprint independently, we are opening it up for everyone in the market to use.
At Tanzi Stretto, our vision has never been limited to just our own growth. We care deeply about the collective progress of this entire craft. With the upcoming launch of this definitive size chart, we hope to significantly reduce sizing issues for bangle lovers and creators across the country.
The Collections We Loved Building
From the very beginning, we knew we didn't want to be confined to a single look. We wanted our muses to have a curated range of artistry. We began working across fabrics, including pure cotton, raw silk, and cotton-silk blends, and adorned our pieces with a rich, eclectic mix of materials. Exploring this vast variety became a core part of the Tanzi Stretto identity, allowing us to experiment with mirror work, sequins, intricate stones, delicate jari threads, traditional gotapatti, elegant kundan, and vintage metal charms.
Even today, maintaining such a broad, highly detailed inventory requires immense patience and time. Yet, it is something we are profoundly proud of. At Tanzi Stretto, you won't just find one bangle done one way. Instead, you will find entirely curated collections with genuine craftsmanship and a flawless finish behind every single style.
The Era of Rapid Growth (2023–2024)
By 2023 and 2024, our growth accelerated beautifully. We became one of the most recognizable names in the Bangladeshi handmade bangle space. The organic reach was entirely in our favor, and because we offered a standard of quality that was hard to find, the market embraced us wholeheartedly.
Those were golden years for our brand. The fundamentals were beautifully simple: craft premium bangles, share our story, and deliver joy to our customers.
Navigating the Market Shift (Late 2024–2025)
As with all beautiful things, the landscape eventually changed. By the end of 2024 and into 2025, the market flooded. Dozens of competitors entered the space almost simultaneously. Prices dropped, margins compressed, and the unique differentiation we once held competition-wise seemed to blur overnight.
But as we watched the market evolve, we noticed something crucial: very few were actually building a brand. Many new entrants were reacting to a seasonal trend rather than building a long-term vision. The result was an echo chamber. Suddenly, the market was filled with identical photoshoots, identical captions, and identical aesthetics. The space became indistinguishable noise.
Our Evolution: Defending the Craft
That is when Tanzi Stretto had to fundamentally evolve. The old strategy of simply being the only option was no longer viable. We needed to build something truly defensible, something that couldn't be copied overnight.
We rebuilt from the ground up, refusing to compromise our artistry for the sake of volume. We invested in a dedicated e-commerce website, which was a step almost no handmade bangle business in Bangladesh had taken at the time. We proudly brought our clothing line back into the spotlight. We stopped chasing the rush of seasonal trends and focused entirely on long-term positioning, unmatched consistency, and an authentic brand identity.
Where We Are Now
Today, Tanzi Stretto might not be the loudest or the biggest page on the internet, and we are perfectly at peace with that. We would much rather be a brand that does things thoughtfully, gracefully, and with absolute dedication to premium quality.
And we're far from alone. Pages like Goynar Golpokotha, Kakon BiBi, Kongkabati and many others are pushing in the same direction, building real brands with genuine care, and that's genuinely exciting to see. It's good for all of us, and good for the craft.
We didn't set out to start anything big. We just loved making bangles, and we're thankful for everyone who's been part of the journey so far.
